There’s a lot of controversy about the alien factor in Scientology. What I’ve often observed is that the people who find it controversial have the naive idea that aliens don’t exist, despite a ton of evidence that they do, and that they have been involved with Earth for the last 60+ years.

I personally don’t have a great deal of interest in aliens or UFO’s etc, but a news story recently came to my attention and seemed worthy of commentary.

It seems the NASA astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell has stated that there is an alien cover-up within the government. You can read more about this here.

This is big news for those who want disclosure about aliens. Dr Edgar Mitchell, who walked on the moon in 1971, is a very high profile advocate of the “alien conspiracy”, and is calling for disclosure from the government organizations involved in the alien cover-up.

NASA, unsurprisingly denied any knowledge of aliens.

So what does this all mean in a Scientology context? Well, certainly it validates aliens existing, and in a roundabout way improves LRH’s credibility when he talked about alien civilizations (less than 0.2% of his material mentions alien civilizations etc).

My speculation is that sometime in the not so distant future our governments may fess up about their alien contact. But what effect would that have on us, humankind?

Well, wouldn’t we be angry at our governments for lying to us for so long…?

Really then our governments are not in such a good position right now. They’ve been lying for so long that the truth will probably hurt them more if they tell it than if they continue to lie about it.

So maybe we shouldn’t be expecting disclosure any time soon after all…

But should we be concerned about aliens? Not really. Ultimately they’re just other beings in the universe playing The Game Called Life.

In the early 1970’s the Central Intelligence Agency sponsored the remote viewing experiments at Stanford Research Institute to investigate it’s potential use in clandestine warfare. Ingo Swann was the main remote viewer used in these experiments and the development of remote viewing, and was an experienced Scientologist who at the time had reached the highest levels of auditing available in the Church of Scientology.

It was actually Hal Puthoff, along with Russell Targ who co-founded the Remote Viewing experiments. Puthoff was also a high level Scientologist, Russell Targ was not.

Remote Viewing is considered an extra sensory perceptive ability, where a person can be trained to look at any place without using their human eyes. The CIA wanted to train people to be able to do it so that they could spy on the enemy. As you can imagine, having operatives who could perform remote viewing intelligence would put CIA in a very strong position to find out sensitive information.

In an interview for Coast to Coast AM, Swann talks about remote viewing and his experiences during the experiments and development of the discipline. Here is the first part (of 12):
